Apple เตรียมปรับให้ iPad mini รุ่นที่ 3 ทั้งรุ่น Wi-Fi และ รุ่น Cellular ให้เป็นผลิตภัณฑ์ล้าสมัยในอีกไม่กี่สัปดาห์ข้างหน้า โดย Apple กำหนดให้ผลิตภัณฑ์ที่เกิน 7 ปีหลังจากวางจำหน่ายครั้งล่าสุด บริการฮาร์ดแวร์ทั้งหมดจะถูกยกเลิกสำหรับผลิตภัณฑ์ที่ล้าสมัยและผู้ให้บริการจะไม่สามารถสั่งซื้อชิ้นส่วนสำหรับอุปกรณ์ที่ล้าสมัยได้
